As reported in
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wlroots/wlroots/-/merge_requests/4979#note_3385626,
bfd6e619fc did not correctly handle clients
that don't immediately follow their call to
`wp_linux_drm_syncobj_manager_v1.get_surface` with a commit attaching
a buffer
