Revert "alsa-mixer: support up to 8 channels per mixer element"

This reverts commit e0ab9fa4a4.

The change broke some Xonar cards, and we probably don't want to hold up
the 14.0 release for this.

Fixes: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues/1009
