ef766d16f0 common: flesh out enum lab_edge and prefer over wlr_edges/wlr_direction
I like the new common/edge.h. I don't like how inconsistently we use it.

Current situation:

 - enum wlr_edges and wlr_direction are designed to be used as bitset,
   and are defined compatibly

 - enum lab_edge is *also* designed to be used as bitset, but
   incompatible with the others (LEFT/RIGHT come before UP/DOWN)

 - we use an inconsistent mix of all three *AND* uint32_t (usually with
   the WLR_EDGE constants rather than the LAB_EDGE constants), and
   convert between them on an ad-hoc basis, sometimes implicitly

Let's clean this up:

 - reorder enum lab_edge to be compatible with the two wlr enums
   (check this by static_assert)

 - use TOP/BOTTOM naming rather than UP/DOWN (matches wlr_edges)

 - add constants for the remaining possible combinations of the 4 edges

 - use lab_edge for all internal edge/direction fields, consistently

 - add lab_edge_is_cardinal() as a sanity check before casting to
   enum wlr_direction, and then eliminate all of direction.c/h

Instead of "enum wlr_edges direction", we now have
"enum lab_edge direction" which is not that much better. At least we
are now clear that we're overloading one enum with two meanings.

02df0a15d7 foreign-toplevel: simplify and fully separate ext-foreign/wlr-foreign
Currently, the dependencies between foreign-toplevel[-internal],
ext-foreign, and wlr-foreign are cyclical and a bit complex.

I suggest we reorganize it into a simpler hierarchy:

  foreign-toplevel/
    -> foreign.c/h
      -> (depends on) ext-foreign.c/h
      -> (depends on) wlr-foreign.c/h

The refactored code is smaller and (IMO) easier to follow.

In detail:

- Add include/foreign-toplevel folder mirroring src/foreign-toplevel
- Split foreign-toplevel-internal.h to ext-foreign.h and wlr-foreign.h
- Eliminate ext-/wlr-foreign.c -> foreign.c reverse dependencies
  (including internal signals and foreign_request* functions)
- Make struct foreign_toplevel private to foreign.c

Lightly tested with qmpanel (which uses wlr-foreign-toplevel).

v2: reorder foreign-toplevel internal API funcs

This is a common practice in C projects, which simply enforces that
each header must compile cleanly without implicit dependencies on

5a50a02ba3 xwayland: fix possible loss of focus when multiple views are unmapped
Due to the asynchronous nature of view_offer_focus(), there was a race
condition that could result in no view remaining active when multiple
views were unmapped at once. Check for this and prevent it.

81204b0537 xwayland: notify correct window stacking order to xwayland
Before this commit, when a normal window is raised, xwayland thought it's
above always-on-top (AOT) windows even though it's actually below AOT
windows in the scene. This means mouse scroll events may be unexpectedly
sent to normal windows below AOT windows even when the cursor is hovering
over a AOT window.

So this commit fixes it by notifying the correct stacking order (where AOT
windows are placed above normal windows) to xwayland every time the
stacking order is updated.

Other benefits of this commit are:
- It makes the code more readable and predictable by aggregating logic
  about stacking order management in xwayland (e.g. shaded windows or
  windows in other workspaces should be notified to xwayland as being
  placed at the bottom).
- As server->last_raised_view is removed in the previous commit, we were
  notifying the stacking order to xwayland every time a window with dialog
  windows is clicked (not when clicking a topmost window without dialogs,
  due to some optimization in wlroots). This commit fixes this by caching
  the window stacking order in xwayland_view->stacking_order and notifying
  it to xwayland only when it's updated.

de49054d75 view: remove server->last_raised_view
We were skipping in view_move_to_front() if the raised view is already
cached as server->last_raised_view. But this was prone to bugs that
windows cannot be raised even though they are actually not placed at the
top in the scene.

This happened when a window is mapped but view_move_to_front() is not
called in view_impl_map() for some reason. Example cases were:
- a window is minimized before being mapped (#2627)
- a window is mapped while window switcher is active (#2629)

Also, this problem was the root cause of #1640 and #2582, though they are
already fixed.

Therefore, this commit removes server->last_raised_view. In order to
eliminate unnecessary communications between labwc and xwayland (ref:
db591d1), I'll introduce another caching mechanism in the next commit.

47e80a488e view: commonize sub-view logic in view_move_to_front/back()
The logic was the same for xdg-shell and xwayland views, so move it from
the view->impl layer out to the view_move_to_front/back() functions.

view->impl->move_to_front/back() still exist for now, in case we want to
add xdg/xwayland-specific logic in future, but they now move only one
view and not sub-views.

b053c9e375 view: only focus topmost view if unmapped view was focused
The unmap() handlers should only call desktop_focus_topmost_view() if
the unmapped view was the focused view. Unmapping a view that was not
focused should not change the focus.

I expect this rarely had any effect in practice; it would only matter in
a focus-follows-mouse config where some view other than the one on top
was focused. But it still seems better to fix.

Rather than repeating the logic in two places, create a small
view_impl_unmap() helper. Perhaps more common "unmap" logic could be
moved there in future.

e5aef03319 desktop: switch workspaces and optionally raise in desktop_focus_view()
Make desktop_focus_view() always switch to the workspace containing the
view being focused. It doesn't make much sense for an invisible view to
have the keyboard focus.

Also add an optional "raise" parameter to desktop_focus_view(). This
allows the common pattern of desktop_focus_view() + view_move_to_front()
to be reduced to a single function call.

3022985ba7 view: try to reduce confusion in focused_view tracking
Our current approach to handling the focused/active view is a bit
confusing. In particular, it's hard to be sure when server->focused_view
is or isn't in sync with the real wlroots keyboard focus.

Try to clean things up a bit. In particular:

- Add comments to server->focused_view and desktop_focused_view() to
  clarify that they should match, but it's not guaranteed.

- desktop_focused_view() now prints a warning if it detects that
  server->focused_view is out of sync. We should keep an eye out for
  this warning, and if we see it, try to figure out why it happened.

- For consistency, use only "focus/defocus" as the verbs in function
  names rather than "activate". This is a bit arbitrary, but the idea is
  that focus is the primary action while the active/inactive state is a
  side effect.

- view_focus/defocus() replace view_set_activated() and now update both
  focus and active/inactive state, to try to keep them in sync.

- Add comments at view_focus/defocus() to warn against calling them
  directly (we should generally call the desktop.c functions).

- desktop_focus_view(NULL) is now forbidden and is no longer handled as
  a special case to clear the focus. This was (at least to me) a
  surprising behavior and caused trouble when working on another change.

- To maintain existing behavior, desktop_focus_topmost_mapped_view() now
  explicitly clears the focus if there are no mapped views.

There should be no behavioral change here.

d609c9e3f9 Support window-rules
Two types of window rules are supported, actions and properties. They are
defined as shown below.

    <windowRules>

      <!-- Action -->
      <windowRule identifier="some-application">
        <action name="Maximize"/>
      </windowRule>

      <!-- Property -->
      <windowRule identifier="foo*" serverDecoration="yes|no"/>

    </windowRules>

Rules are applied if windows match the criteria defined by the
'identifier' attribute which relates to app_id for native Wayland windows
and WM_CLASS for XWayland clients.

Matching against patterns with '*' (wildcard) and '?' (joker) is
supported.

Add 'serverDecoration' property.

a6896e6978 desktop: move scene-tree node in move-to-back
view_minimize() does not need to call desktop_move_to_back() because the
stacking order is not changed and the windowSwitcher uses the scene-tree
nodes anyway.

Note: Movement of xwayland sub-views still relies on keeping server->views
in sync with z-order

0b34b9f69f view: Anchor right/bottom edge only when resizing via top/left edge
Currently, we anchor the right/bottom edge of the view whenever the top/
left edge is moving (current.x/y != pending.x/y). Doing so doesn't make
much sense when the right/bottom edge is also moving. In that case it's
probably best to move the view (or at least its top/left corner)
directly to its final position.

The most noticeable effect of this change is with views that don't
accept their requested size exactly when tiled or maximized (examples:
havoc, xfce4-terminal). Previously, their right-bottom corner would be
aligned with the screen edge, leaving gaps on the left and top. Now the
top-left corner will be aligned and the gaps will be on the right and
bottom. This is still not ideal, but IMHO less surprising to the user.
