If the slave PCM supports only another type of interleaved format,
plug did convert it wrongly and resulted in an unused access type
error. For example, if a slave PCM supporst only RW_NONINTERLEAVE
access and you try to play an interleaved format file, it resulted
in an error.
This patch fixes the conversion rule.

This ensures they are emitted in .data.rel.ro rather than .data.rel,
which should make a nice difference when using prelink.

By doing this we move them from the .data section to .rodata setion,
or from .data.rel to .data.rel.ro.
The .rodata section is mapped directly from the on-disk file, which is
always a save, while .data.rel.ro is mapped directly when using
prelink, which is a save in a lot of cases.

The plug plugin has a long-standing problem that it can handle only
slaves that support mmap because of format/rate/access conversions
(these corresponding plugins work only with mmap).
This patch adds the support of automatic mmap->rw conversion via
mmap_emul plugin.

Change the rate converter type to allow string arrays in addition to
a string. When a string array is given, the rate plugin probes each
string and try to load the converter plugin in the order of the list.
For example, you can set
defaults.pcm.rate_converter [ "samplerate" "linear" ]
so that samplerate plugin is preferred to linear plugin if it's
installed.
Created a new rate converter plugin SDK.
A rate converter can be replaced as an extra plugin now.
The default rate converter is a built-in linear converter.
You can find a sample external converter in alsa-plugins package.
Remove several memory leaks by not aborting prematurely from a
snd_xxx_close() function when some operation fails.
This can happen when a USB device was unplugged.
Add --enable-* and --with-pcm-plugins configure options for partial builds.
User can choose the core components (pcm, mixer, rawmidi, hwdep, seq, instr)
via --enable-xxx or --disable-xxx option. As default, all components are
enabled.
The PCM plugins to build can be selected via --with-pcm-plugins option.
For example, to build only rate and linear plugin, pass
--with-pcm-plugins=rate,linear
Passing "all" will select all plugins (it's the default value).
The plug plugin will select linear and copy plugins automatically.
The other auto conversions of plug plugin are enabled only when the
corresponding plugin is selected.
Fixed the bug producing silent tones with some combinations of plugins.
The internal buffer handling is now better (cleaner) integrated with
snd_pcm_generic_*().
- added link/unlink/link_fd fast_ops callbacks
- moved code from snd_pcm_link to pcm_hw.c
- moved "empty" routines pointing to slave to pcm_generic.c
- introduced snd_pcm_generic_t
- added poll_events to main pcm structure
- added poll_revents callback to pcm->ops structure
- fixed snd_pcm_wait() - call revents function and enhanced
error code reporting
DMIX plugin:
- more complete code (works at least for one instance)
- still no "mix" code (it's silent)
- added backward compatibility for older non-compatible functions
- added --with-compat-rc3 to configure script to build library
backwards compatible with 0.9.0rc3
- added symbol versioning like libc.so.6
- ALSA_0.9 - alsa base
- ALSA_0.9.0rc4 - first set of new functions (snd_pcm_hw_params_*)
- changed snd_config_get_id function to follow semantic of other get functions
- added snd_config_test_id
- added runtime pointer type (not persistent)
- added snd_config_make_pointer, snd_config_set_pointer, snd_config_get_pointer
- added type/contents checking for callback functions
- changed 'void *private_data' to 'snd_config_t *private_data'
- renamed card_strtype functions to card_driver
Control:
- fixed passing parameters to snd_ctl_async
Async handlers:
- added public snd_async_handler_get_signo function
Documentation:
- moved all documentation to source files
